OVERVIEW
Material in Design is a product design course where students learn the relationship between materials and form. For the first two months, in a team of two, we explored various different materials and presented to the class. Later, we expanded to a team of three as we started to get into product design.
My main role in the team was graphic design. Additionally, I also helped with the research of materials. Here is a showcase of the graphic designs I did during the course.

MATERIAL EXPLORATION
For the first assignment, we were to explore a material choose by us and an uncommon product made from that material. We started looking at different types of wood at first and discovered cork also came from trees (specifically cork trees). Its amazing properties attracted us and choose cork as our focus. Both my partner and I researched the materials and product. I did the graphic design for the poster while my partner focused more on the copywriting.

FLASHLIGHT DESIGN
POSTER
For one of the main assignment, my team and I created a flashlight for electrician workers. This was the poster that I designed for our final presentation. My partners did renderings of our product and interaction illustrations.
For this assignment, we were to explore one wood and fabric material that could be used with an upcoming product design project.
For the graphic design for both the cloth and wood, I was inspired by fabric sample swatch sets. I use the textures of the material on the background and headers to give the audience the perception of the material.
